UX Research Repository

Overview

During the time i worked at PXT Technologies, I had the opportunity to develop a case involving the construction of a UX research repository for a new project in the financial market.

A UX research repository is a centralized database of research and insights that the entire company uses to make better decisions. The goal is to enable everyone to access user research artifacts and explore the context that led to them, besides contributing to improve the research culture in the company.

Before we start to build, there are a couple of requirements we considering:
1) All the data should be trackable, retrievable and accessible;
2) The research process would need to follow the Atomic Research framework.

Process

We chose to utilize Notion as our repository tool, due to its familiar interface and low learning curve, as it was already widely adopted within the company.

Regarding the solution, firstly I identified the most relevant data types for our needs and how we could optimize data storage, retrieval and data relation to generate solid insights.
The repository was divided into 3 sections:

1) Research artifacts
This section contained the Atomic Research framework, which was basically categorized into experiments, facts, insights and conclusions, each corresponding to a separate Notion database;

2) Master tags
Also using Notion´s database feature, we create tags to associate with the experiments above, such as typology and experience tags. This allowed us to easily identify the most relevant data.

3) Templates and methodologies
This section consisted of curated content that helped standardize our research methods.

Outcome

The results were remarkable. Having a well-structured UX research repository allowed us to centralize insights, findings, and recommendations, fostering collaboration and informed decision-making. It enabled us to scale the product correctly by identifying user needs, uncovering pain points, and prioritizing features based on user-centric data. The repository became an invaluable asset, elevating the quality of our design process and ultimately contributing to the success of our product at PXT.
